Unveils New Fully Automatic Terrazzo Tile Production Line with High-Pressure Double-Layer Pressing and Integrated Grinding–Polishing
Golden Mountain Machinery, a professional manufacturer of terrazzo and concrete tile equipment, today announced the launch of its new fully automatic terrazzo tile production line, model [Model No.]. Designed for cement-bonded terrazzo floor tiles, the integrated line covers the entire process from raw material batching to finished-tile polishing, and is engineered for manufacturers supplying commercial, residential and public-building projects.
Terrazzo has seen a strong revival in recent years, valued by architects and designers for its durability, design flexibility and ability to incorporate recycled marble, quartz and glass aggregates. At the same time, project owners increasingly demand consistent dimensions, uniform aggregate exposure and a stable high-gloss finish — requirements that manual or semi-automatic equipment struggle to meet at scale. The new line was developed to close that gap.

Cement terrazzo tiles consist of two structurally different layers:
The facing (wear) layer, typically 5–10 mm thick, is made of white or grey Portland cement, graded marble, granite or quartz chips, clean sand and inorganic iron-oxide pigments. This layer determines colour, pattern, abrasion resistance and final gloss.
The base (structural) layer uses ordinary Portland cement with coarser sand or gravel aggregate, and carries the mechanical load of the tile.
After batching and mixing, the two mixes are distributed separately into the mold, compacted in one pressing cycle, cured to gain strength, and then ground and polished to expose the decorative aggregates. The new line mechanizes every one of these stages.
1. Double-layer material distribution. Two independent feeding systems deposit the base and facing mixes in sequence. Because white cement, selected chips and pigments are used only in the thin wear layer, raw-material cost is significantly reduced while surface quality remains consistent.
2. High-pressure pressing with vibration compaction. A [X]-ton hydraulic press, combined with high-frequency vibration, compacts both layers in a single stroke. The dense matrix lowers water absorption, improves freeze–thaw performance and allows immediate demolding onto steel pallets without deformation.
3. Fast mold changeover and wide format range. The standard configuration produces tiles from 300 × 300 mm to 800 × 800 mm, with thicknesses from 18 to 40 mm; special sizes and multi-colour patterned molds are available on request. Mold changeover is tool-assisted to minimize downtime between batches.
4. Controlled curing. Palletized tiles are transferred to curing racks or an insulated steam-curing chamber, where temperature and humidity follow a programmed curve. Controlled curing ensures the compressive strength needed before grinding and prevents surface cracking.
5. Continuous multi-stage grinding and polishing. The wet-process finishing section runs through calibrating, coarse grinding, medium grinding, fine grinding, polishing, chamfering and waxing. Sequential silicon-carbide or diamond abrasives — from coarse grits up to [#3,000 and above] — progressively expose the aggregates and produce an even, mirror-like finish. Water is applied throughout to cool the tools and suppress dust.
6. PLC automation and recipe management. A PLC with touch-screen HMI stores mix designs and pressing parameters per tile type, monitors key stations in real time and provides fault diagnostics, reducing dependence on manual operation and stabilizing batch-to-batch quality.
7. Lower environmental impact. The line is equipped with a closed-loop water system and a filter press that separates grinding slurry from process water, allowing the majority of water to be recycled. Variable-frequency drives on the hydraulic station and main conveyors reduce idle energy consumption, while dust collection points are integrated at batching and transfer stations.
"The market no longer buys terrazzo equipment purely on press capacity," said [Spokesperson Name], [Title] of [Company]. "Customers now ask about water absorption, gloss uniformity, dimensional tolerance and operating cost per square metre. This line answers all of those questions in one automated flow."
