What is terrazzo tile?
This is a tech that has come out about 70 years, with quite a long history.
Terrazzo tiles are an inorganic building material made by mixing cement, aggregates (such as marble, granite crushed materials), pigments, etc., and then grinding and polishing. Its surface presents a unique granular texture and luster, which not only retains the texture of natural stone, but also has good durability and design flexibility. It is widely used in modern architectural decoration.

I. The main uses of Terrazzo tiles
1. Commercial space: the floors or walls of shopping malls, hotels, and office buildings, because of their wear resistance, easy cleaning and high-end texture, can enhance the overall style of the space.
2. Public buildings: schools, hospitals, stations and other places with large traffic, the high wear resistance and stain resistance of Terrazzo tiles make it an ideal choice.
3. Home decoration: The living room, kitchen, bathroom and other areas of the house can create a unique home style through personalized color matching and pattern design.
4. Art decoration: Some high-end places will use the customizability of Terrazzo tiles to make artistic floors or decorative walls, which are both functional and ornamental.

II. Core raw materials of terrazzo tiles
1. Cementitious materials: mainly cement (ordinary Portland cement or white cement), which provides the function of bonding aggregates. White cement is often used for light-colored or colored terrazzo tiles to ensure the purity of color.
2. Aggregates: including marble, granite, quartz and other crushed materials, with particle sizes usually between 1-10 mm. The type and color of aggregates directly affect the texture and visual effect of terrazzo tiles.
3. Pigments: Inorganic mineral pigments are used to adjust the color of the tile body to ensure that the color lasts and does not fade. Common colors include yellow, red, gray, white, black and various colors.
4. Additives: A small number of admixtures (such as water reducers and retarders) can improve the molding properties of the mixture and enhance the strength and durability of the finished product.

III. Production process of terrazzo tiles
1. Raw material ratio: According to design requirements, cement, aggregates, pigments and additives are accurately proportioned to ensure the uniformity and stable performance of the mixture.
2. Mixing: Put the raw materials into the mixer and mix them thoroughly to form a slurry with a certain fluidity.
3. Casting: Pour the mixed slurry into the mold, and expel bubbles through vibration or pressing process to ensure the compactness of the tile.
4. Curing and curing: Curing under suitable temperature and humidity conditions to fully hydrate the cement and improve the strength of the tile.
5. Grinding and polishing: After the tile is cured, remove the surface slurry through multiple grinding processes (from coarse grinding to fine grinding), and finally polish to a mirror effect.
6. Inspection and packaging: The finished product is inspected for size, appearance and physical properties, and packaged and stored after passing.

IV. Use and laying of terrazzo tiles
1. Applicable scenarios:
o Indoor and outdoor floors: tiles of different thicknesses need to be selected according to load requirements.
o Wall decoration: It can be achieved through dry hanging or pasting process to create a unique visual effect.
2. Laying points:
o Base treatment: Make sure the base is flat, dry, and oil-free. Waterproof treatment is required if necessary.
o Construction process: Use special adhesives for pasting, and fill the tile joints with epoxy or cement-based caulking agents to prevent stains from penetrating.
o Finished product protection: After laying, it needs to be maintained for a period of time to avoid heavy impact or chemical pollution.
3. Daily maintenance:
o Regular cleaning: Wipe with neutral detergent to avoid acidic or alkaline detergents corroding the surface.
o Polishing treatment: Polishing and maintenance can be performed every 2-3 years to restore the surface gloss.
o Anti-fouling treatment: Protective agent can be applied to enhance the anti-fouling ability of the tile body.
